Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School

Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED during its inspection in May 2018.  Bishop Challoner is a smaller than average secondary school.  As a Catholic school it serves a wide area and about a quarter of its students travel from outside the local area.  It is a specialist school for mathematics and computing.  The majority of students are from White British backgrounds, with the proportion of pupils who have English as an additional language is above average.  The proportion of students identified as having learning difficulties and disabilities is below average.  Very few students are eligible for free school meals.

The Clere School

The Clere School was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted May 2019 and is a rural school with high expectations leading to academic excellence for all it’s pupils.  It is a smaller than average sized 11 to 16 comprehensive school, the proportion of pupils with SEND is above the national average.  The Clere School believe strongly that building students’ learning capacity has the power to transform lives.  At The Clere we help shape the lives of our students, to realise their academic potential and provide them with the skills and values they need.  We believe in the power and value of education to change lives and focus on academic achievement.

The Costello School

The Costello School was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED during its inspection in November 2021.  This is a larger than average sized secondary school, with a history of excellence stretching back to 1908.  The Costello School has been the choice of generations who seek strong academic success and excellent pastoral provision blended to ensure that we know each child, celebrate their uniqueness, and allow them a future filled with limitless potential.

Cove School

The Cove School was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED during its inspection in January 2020.  They are immensely proud of all students and staff and all that we achieve together. Cranbourne

Cranbourne was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED during its inspection in July 2021.  Students are happy and engage enthusiastically in the schools broad range of extra-curricular activities.  Pastoral care is a key strength of the school, and has a “settled and harmonious community, where students enjoy being part of a diverse group”.  We have excellent, well qualified staff and subject specialist teachers in all areas.

Young people should be able to follow their passions and find their strengths, building confidence as they grow.  We teach a wide range of subjects supported by our excellent specialist facilities including an indoor swimming pool and functioning hair and beauty salon.  Our most able children benefit from the “Cranbourne Plus” programme, which acts as a ladder to future success.  Recently ex-students have places at Oxford University, St Barts Medical School and places on high level apprenticeships.  We are proud of our record with SEN and dyslexic students, who flourish in our Specialist Resourced Provision, the only one of its type in Basingstoke.

Dove House Academy – Lead School

Dove House Academy was judged as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED during its inspection in September 2019.  The school specialises in meeting the needs of pupils with moderate learning difficulties.  It is the lead institution for the Basingstoke Alliance SCITT and has extensive experience in a range of ITT programmes.  Over the past few years the school has been actively involved in the School Experience Programme.  Dove House is a special school and has a group of specialist teachers who regularly provide training for both ITT and serving teachers.

Everest Community Academy

Everest Community Academy was judged as ‘Good’ by OFSTED during its inspection in February 2020.  The Academy has unique access to resources and support from the Academies Enterprise Trust.  Everest Community Academy is smaller than other secondary schools but growing in size.  The very large majority of students are from White British backgrounds but most minority ethnic groups are represented.  A small number speak English as an additional language but very few are in the early stages of learning.  The proportion of students known to be eligible for free school meals is above average.  Over a third of students have identified special educational needs and/or disabilities; this is above the national average although a ‘below-average proportion’ has a statement of identified special educational needs.  The Academy has achieved Arts Mark, Investors in People Gold standard and most recently Healthy Schools status.  It is part of the Bourne Education Trust.

Bohunt Farnborough

Fernhill School was judged as ‘Requires Improvement’ during its inspection in September 2018.

In January 2024 the school embarked on the next exciting phase by converting to an academy, and have joined the high-achieving Bohunt Education Trust (BET) family of schools. This move ensures the school are part of a community that provides excellent education, shares best practice and provides experiences and exceptional opportunities for all of our students.
